Here’s a fluid bubble chart of the Olympic medal count, the coolest online map ever. Move the scale on the top to get a feel of how powerful this flash powered application really is.
One interesting note in the geopolitical context is how in 1980, USSR, the eastern block, Cuba and all the communist governments dominated the show (in the absence of US), but China, which we believe was strongly influenced by USSR, did not medal at all.
As for this year, the larger dots are mostly represented by developed nations, with only a few exceptions.

Why this sudden proclamation? Well, we have been in business for over a year now and we have had the pleasure of serving folks from across the globe, but ironically, none from Richmond VA, a.k.a ‘our backyard’ per say. The reason is simple, it’s a SEO thing.

Researchers say they have identified the chemical switch that controls the genetic mechanism regulating people’s internal body clocks. Coincidentally, President Hugo Chavez came up with an alternative way of regulating the internal body clocks of his citizens, i.e. by creating Venezuela’s own unique time zone by putting the clock back half-an-hour on a permanent basis and forcing the whole nation to rise early. Brilliant!

Google’s latest buy is a Spanish Geo-photo Company Panoramio, a community Web site that allows people to “map” their photos on Google Earth. The technology enables to find the exact geographical location of where the photos were taken with that location on the map. Read here for more information on the terms and conditions of the usage. Â
Except for Wikipedia, Google’s Geographic Web now has two sources it can call it’s own, the Google Earth Community, and Panoramio. If only Wikipedia could also be bought by Google…!!
