Advanced Magazine Theme for WordPress: Mint Idea

Mint Idea is an advanced magazine style theme for WordPress with built in CSS edit features. This package includes a full-function, full-featured WordPress theme with built-in touchless “CSS editor”, SEO friendly headings for posts plus content flow order, Google Adsense styling, and more with practically no set up required.

Just like our other free premium advanced Web 2.0 WordPress themes like Black and White, The Box, The Studio, Colourise, Fresh, Silk, PointSpace, Traffic, W Exp, eMagazine, Deep Blue, Watch This, Concept Nova and numerous 3 column WordPress Themes, this theme too has all the innovative features that we offer at no cost. The theme works with all versions of WordPress up to date including the latest version 2.6.

The theme offers among other things the following features:

  • Touch free CSS edit to customize your sites looks and feel.
  • Change background image from admin panel.
  • Able to change sidebar location from right to left from the WordPress admin panel.
  • Able to change all major and some minor styling from the WordPress admin panel.
  • Adsense styled - easily add your Google Adsense code in pre-styled files without risk breaking the theme.
  • Create featured posts by simply adding a category called Featured (with a capital F.)
  • Two widget ready sidebars.
  • Search Engine Optimized - use without worry of duplicate posts or rearranging title tags.
  • CSS/XHTML validated.
  • JavaScript activated search form.

Demo and Download

Test the theme by running a demo or grab a copy of the new free WordPress theme Mint Idea. This theme is free for personal use. Refer to the license section below before downloading if you plan on using it commercially. The theme has been tested and works with WordPress versions 2.0.x through 2.6.

The only customization (done manually) is setting the short description below the navigation menus. You can skip this step and be perfectly fine as is, but if you need to create, follow the steps below:

  1. Open header.php
  2. Find and remove this line of code that automatically adds pages -
    1. <?php wp_list_pages(‘sort_column=menu_order&depth=1&title_li=’); ?>
  3. Add this code for each navigation menu link -
    1. <li><a href=”URI of page”>Link Title<br/><span>Short Description</span></a></li>
  4. Replace URI of page with the real URI, the Link Title with the anchor text for the link and the short description will serve as a lead to the link.
  5. Repeat for all links.

Authors, License and Credits

The theme is a collaborative work of MandarinMusing WordPress Theme and Headsetoptions Web Design and based on a free template by David Kohout. This effort was made possible with support by Six Sigma Healthcare and Test Equipment.

The theme is released under a combined CC and GPL license. The CSS (stylesheet) and images are released under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, while the rest of the theme files are released under a GNU GPL License. What this means is, if you are to use this CSS/images to redesign, you are required to link back to the theme authors in the footer. You can make any changes to the php files any way you like. However, we prefer you leave the credits for the theme intact to help users find this theme easily. You are not allowed to redistribute this theme in part or whole. Contact us if you plan on using it commercially or if you have any special needs.
