Why this sudden proclamation? Well, we have been in business for over a year now and we have had the pleasure of serving folks from across the globe, but ironically, none from Richmond VA, a.k.a ‘our backyard’ per say. The reason is simple, it’s a SEO thing.

If you opened Google and typed in “Web Design”, you will notice us on the very first page, yes, we do web design and we make it very obvious in almost every post of ours and each page. But we being in Richmond, VA is insignificant in the big picture, after all, we never really meet our clients in person, so why should our geographical location matter. Also, we never registered ourselves in Yahoo! Local or Google Local Maps, so that never helped either. But the fact remains we are from Richmond, VA and we are no where to be found when you search on Google for “Richmond, VA Web Design”, now that is unacceptable and it is all about to change with this very post.

Two things you need to keep in mind when you want to score points for SEO keywords, one is, you pick the most generic of the phrases, like “Richmond, VA Web Design” and repeat it many times in you post. As yo can see, I have already repeated the key phrase “Richmond, VA Web Design” 3 times, the words “Richmond, VA” and “Web Design” are repeated 7 times each. I am also including keyword tags called “Richmond” “Virginia” and “Web Design” to this post for added love.

Now the real experiment starts, on the day of Christmas 2007, we did not show up in any Google SERP for “Richmond, VA Web Design”, we will wait and see how many days it takes before we do, and we are going for the #1 spot, so watch out
