Chicago Foie Gras Ban Goes into Effect Tomorrow

The Chicago City Council has managed to pass a ban on Chicago restaurants serving Foie Gras, the awful tasting fattened duck or goose liver considered a French delicacy. This move is the City’s strategy to pacify Animal Protection & Rescue League members, who claim the process of raising the duck or goose was cruel and inhumane. Now what part of raising an animal to be killed and consumed not cruel and inhumane, really. What about Veal and Caviar? Is it OK to be served in Chicago restaurants?
So why the hypocrisy? Here’s my theory and it’s rather simple, a very small percentage of people in Chicago care about Foie Gras, this key since organization like APRL and PETA are after everyone involved in farming. So the easiest sector that can be shutdown to please the animal rights activists without cutting in on the regular supply of all things meaty for the majority is Foie Gras.
