I just came here to thank you in person for Easy Black :) I was changing the layout of my site for about a year due to dissatisfaction, but then I found your theme in August… sounds weird, but you made me stop the theme switching! Your theme has everything I was looking for, I added the Flickr Hoverbox, now it’s perfect and very plain. I was struggling with the Hemingway theme before, but yours is easier to customize. So thank you!

Im trying to customize the header but cant.

    The part that says:

I want to replace that with an image, but its not working. PLz help.. :(

  1. 3. Giovanni | November 5, 2006 #

OK, that didn’t work as expected…

    The 43rd line, that says: echo get _settings(‘home’);

I want to replace that with an image

  1. 4. hso | November 6, 2006 #

    @ Giovanni

Do you intend on using images instead of the text “home”, “Forum”, …? That line you are referring to (in the header.php file) is an hyperlink to our home page, let me know if I understood your question right.

I absolutley love this theme and easy white, very cool. Has anyone had difficulty getting comments in the sidebar and archives to work.

Comments at the moment doesn’t seem to find anything at all.

I was going to try my hand at puting an Archives link in the sidebar also. However when I got to the file … wp-content/themes/easy_black/archives.php I get this message.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: get_header() in /var/www/caniagorgeretreat.com.au/home/wp-content/themes/easy_black/archives.php on line 6

    Anyone got any ideas

    @ Dean Power

Where is this theme active? I may be able to help if I know! Also, was archives/php modified in any way?

  1. 7. Dean Power | February 22, 2007 #

    G’day hso, it’s at http://www.caniagorgeretreat.com.au/home.

Thanks for the quick turn around. I don’t believe I went anywhere near archives.php.

To compound things I’m going to shift to the root directory and upgrade to 2.01.

    Cheers Dean

Ok I’ve shifted wordpress to the root folder and upgraded to 2.1. Still no comments or archives shows up in the side bar. Could this be a permissions issue? What is the path and what permissions?

or am i barking totally up the wrong tree. I have easy white on another server and same issue no comments in the side bar.

    got any clues? Dean

    @ Dean Power

Is your recent comments plugin activated?
Without that, there will be no comments.

  1. 10. Dean Power | February 23, 2007 #

Hi hso, that has got comments sorted. What about archives does that require a plug in too? I know there is some code in the sidebar for the permalinks. I appreciate your help, Dean

  1. 11. Dean Power | February 23, 2007 #

hso, used Rob Marsh’s Compact Archive plugin which works like a charm. Thanks for the great theme and support. I dropped some change in your donation box. Cheers Dean

  1. 17. Nick | October 5, 2007 #

Where can I download all the plugins that are needed? because they were not included in the download..

  1. 18. Nick | October 5, 2007 #

also how can I edit the “Flickr” section to my own flickr

  1. 19. hso | October 5, 2007 #

    @ Nick

There are no plugins that you NEED, but you CAN use any of the plugin listed in the install guide to make your user experience better. I wish I could list them, but since its a personal choice as to what plugins to use, it’s best that you search for the ones you need by its name on the web. Also most plugins are likely to have updated and the URI’s changed, so look for the version that matches/works with your WP version.

As for the Flickr Java, change the tag=art to tag=youruniquetagonflickr where “youruniquetagonflickr” is obviously “your unique tag on flickr”, which can be set up by adding a unique tag and testing it on Flickr.com and can be anything, for example, “headsetop” is a unique tag that I use and I am sure no one else would.

    Hope this helps!

Will this theme work with the recently announced WordPress 2.3.2? It’s not on their compatibility list.

  1. 21. hso | January 5, 2008 #

    @ Mark

Yes, most all our themes will work with all version over 2.x. However, the widget function is not available in some of our older themes, not to fear, it’s rather simple, here’s the instruction.

Excellent theme! I’m very picky when it comes to themes or site layouts that I didn’t create myself and no matter how hard I look, I just can’t find anything that I truly like but this theme was an exception.
Out of all the themes I searched online, this is the only one that really made me melt :D DD Gorgeous and minimalistic just the way I like so THANK YOU very much~

I’m using it now and probably for a very long time. I made few modifications I hope you won’t mind.

    Thank you once again =)

Easy Black installed and one last problem. On the startup page I see no blog entry. Archives etc. are working, all plugins are activated….

    please help!

    Cheers, Peter

  1. 24. hso | July 12, 2008 #

    @ Peter

Deactivate the plugins for now and check, the theme is old and so are the plugins. I do not believe we need the plugins any more and the sideblog can easily be replaced with a conditional loop.

geee, thanks. only activated heatmap + srg clean - working.

yes old but I like it :-)
