3K2 Redux-Klee Released

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

I am pleased to announce the official release of a WP theme titled 3K2 Redux with Klee flavor. This theme is a highly customized version of K2. I could not resist coloring K2, and I found the 3K2 theme especially functional, I wonder why we do not see more of the 3-column version. This is the first in the series of 4 (for the time being) flavors inspired by my wife’s paintings. Hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed styling it!

klee

The theme will be supported at http://www.headsetoptions.org/

Grab the theme from below and give it a try. Comments and feedback are welcome.

    Hi hso. I downloaded your 3k2 redux scheme and tried yet. It gives the same problem in internet explorer that I had with my previous 3k2 scheme. Any fixes possible. tx

    Anshul,

    Reduce the size of this image in your Apple Secrecy - Bane or Boon post!

    That should take care of it :-)

    Keep all the images in your post less than 432px wide.

    Oh, and the image in “Google in the yr 2084″ post.

    plase help!!! How do i include the categories in all the pages, single post, archives, etc (all the blog)

  1. 5. hso | August 24, 2006 #

    @ Mobius

    This is in the support portion of the site, I made it for Klein mod, but will work for Klee or any other K2 mods from my site.

    Get the modified sidebar.php from here and get the modified page-archives.php from here.

    Replace the existing files with the new files and you should be good to go.

    Note: Delete the .txt extension to make it a .php file

    Hi, I’ve been using Klee for a couple of weeks now and love the design. Just one problem that I can’t fix - there is no byline on posts.

    The username, nickname, real name etc are all configured so I can’t see why the poster’s name isn’t being published.

    Any setting I need to change?

    Thanks

  1. 7. hso | November 16, 2006 #

    @ Iceman

    Did you change theloop.php file by any chance? See if it has been altered.

  1. 8. Iceman | November 16, 2006 #

    Thanks hso. I don’t recall tinkering with theloop.php

    I’ve just tried re-installing the original theloop.php file and it’s amde no difference I’m afraid.

    I also tried disbalign “Sidebar Modules” and that didn’t change anything either.

    Any other ideas?

    @ Iceman

    I will have to check and get back to you on that.

    Look for a midding /div tag in the index.php ot in theloop.php. If you notice in IE, your about me and contact pages both seem to work fine, so unless you have modified the files, it should work!

    Hi,

    Just downloaded your theme. It’s really great! I’ve been looking for a 3 column theme. Quick question: How do I remove the title that automatically appears? I uploaded a banner that has my blog name in it already. My old theme (blix) had a line of code in the css, but i couldn’t find any documentation in yours. Thanks!

  1. 16. Oz | January 15, 2007 #

    Well, I figured out the previous problem, but get errors when I try to add the new sidebar code for archive and cat. I want to display archives in the sidebar. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. 18. Oz | January 15, 2007 #

    I’m almost squared away. I’d like to show my archives in the sidebar on the page template (like the home page). For some reason, the archive area is blank on my page template. You can see at http://www.hearya.com

  1. 19. hso | January 16, 2007 #

    @ Oz

    Look in my support page where you will find a modified sidebar.php for 3K2Redux Klein. Look at it/download and use it instead, I has the code without the conditional tag that prevents the pages from displaying archive/cats etc.

    I have written two new posts and they do not display on my blog unless you go directly to their page. The are not drafts. They can be seen in the “recent posts” section, but not at the top of the blog. The same thing happened last week. I have no idea what to do and could not find anything when I searched the forum.

    my blog is http://mioaklandcounty.com

    If you go there right now you should land on
    http://mioaklandcounty.com/blog/2007/02/08/birmingham-bloomfield-hills-the-luxury-home-buyers-are-back/

    but instead you land on:
    http://mioaklandcounty.com/blog/2007/02/07/how-to-get-credit-score-part-two/

    I never had this problem with any other theme.

    Do you have an asides category selected in the K2 options page? If so, check to make sure the missing post does not have that category selected as Asides.

    @ Shae

    We do not deal with flash, so we will not be able to help, I am sure you can add an object and embed flash files, which actually lead to the next answer. For your video, you will need a plugin, I use WP Extreme Video plugin!

    Hello! I love this theme, and I haven’t had any problems with it until today. I pulled a list out of the sidebar, and now the white background doesn’t extend all the way down the page, and my sidebar has gone a little wonky. Could you have a look and tell me what I might have done? Thanks!

    I think you have deleted a /div tag which is usually within a < and >

    Do you have the original file? Upload it if you do and check, then remove the links tag carefully :-)

    Hi

    I love this theme. I do have some issues concerning the width of the two sidebars. Where can I adjust the width “manually”?

    It also seems like I can’t make the theme autmatically adjust to fit different screen sizes?

  1. 33. hso | June 3, 2007 #

    @ radiohode

    This theme (and most of our other themes) is not fluid, which means the screen size is irrelevant to the theme width.

    As for making the width greater, there are 4 changes to make, here are the steps:

    1) Open style.css

    2) Find
    #primary {
    width: 450px !important;
    _width: 450px !important;
    float: left;
    margin: 0 25px 0 25px !important;
    _margin: 0 25px 0 25px !important;
    display: inline;
    }
    and reduce the width in needed to accommodate the increase in sidebar width.

    3) Find
    .secondary {
    font: 1em/1.5em ‘Lucida Grande’, Verdana, Arial, Sans-Serif;
    padding: 10px 0 10px!important;
    margin: 0 0 20px 500px !important;
    width: 470px !important;
    _padding: 10px 0 10px !important;
    _margin-left: 0%;
    _margin-right: -4%;
    _width: 470px !important;
    color: #666;
    position: relative;
    }

    and increase the width of the overall sidebar (both sidebars included)

    4) Find
    .lsidebar {
    margin: 0;
    width: 235px !important;
    _width: 235px;
    float: left !important;
    padding: 0 9px 0 9px !important;
    border-left: 1px solid #eee;
    border-right: 1px solid #eee;
    }
    .rsidebar {
    margin: 0;
    width: 170px !important;
    _width: 170px;
    float: right !important;
    padding: 0 25px 0 10px !important;
    }
    and increase the width corresponding to lsidebar and rsidebar equivalent to the net increase in #3.

    Save a copy of the original style.css just in case. Hope it helps!

  1. 34. Julia | June 8, 2007 #

    Hi, there, hso! I love your theme. Thanks so much for making it available. I posted a comment earlier but am not sure it went thru. Please excuse me if I’m repeating myself!

    I have two questions:

    Can I change the color of the linked text (eg, under “Categories,” “Subscribe,” etc) from blue to another color? Also, is there a way to make the links under the main heads (”Comments,” “Published in”) a different color?

    When I have more than one category after “Published in” the clock icon drops down to the 2d line. Is there a way to fix this?

    Thanks for any help. Your site and support are great!

    Julia

  1. 35. hso | June 8, 2007 #

    @ Julia

    1) To change link colors, open style.css and find this:

    /*- Links */

    #primary a:hover, #primary a:visited:hover,
    .secondary a:hover, .secondary a:visited:hover {
    text-decoration: underline;
    }
    h2 a:hover, h2 span a:hover {
    color: #27d !important;
    }
    a {
    color: #27d;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    .itemtext a:visited {
    color: #b41;
    }

    The color used is #27d, you can change that to whatever you want.

    To change the colors on the menu button or link, look for this oiece of code:

    ul.menu li a {
    font: 1em Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, Sans-Serif;
    color: white;
    margin: 0;
    background: #FFA82C;
    }
    ul.menu li a:hover {
    background: #FFCD3A;
    color: #eee !important;
    text-decoration: none;
    }
    ul.menu li.current_page_item a,
    ul.menu li.current_page_item a:hover {
    color: #333 !important;
    background: #FF4924;
    text-decoration: none;
    }

    Play with the background and color codes!

    2) That is an issue I noticed too, but these theme have not been worked on for close to year now, I know K2 (the base theme for Klee) has evolved since, I might have to revisit the site and find out what the K2 folks have been up to before releasing a new version with the fix.

  1. 36. Julia | June 8, 2007 #

    Awesome, thanks so much for the quick response!

  1. 37. radiohode | August 12, 2007 #

    I’m really fond of this theme, but I do have one problem. When selecting one of the categories (while reading) I only get the 15 newest posts (headings and some of the text), even if there are many more posts in the category. I’d like a link to the older posts. Don’t know if I have done anything wrong. None of the options in the dashboard seems to solve this issue?

  1. 39. Nichole | December 19, 2007 #

    Hello! Is there any way to make the tagline display a different bit of text when the page reloads? Thanks!

  1. 40. hso | December 22, 2007 #

    @ Nichole

    The way to do that will be to hard code the required text within a conditional tag that dictates which text is presented in a certain page.

    Here’s an example (note that I have added an extra space between < and > in all cases below to prevent the code from executing). I have included two ways to doing it, the first is how you can add any number of combinations, you can have a text for each page in your site. The second is just for two types of pages, it’s an “either or” statement, where in if it is a certain page it will show a certain text if not another.

    Example 1:

    < ?php if ( (is_home()) ) { ? >
    < p class="description" > Some text < /p >
    < ?php } ? >
    < ?php if ( (is_single()) ) { ? >
    < p class="description" > Some other text 1 < /p >
    < ?php } ? >
    < ?php if ( (is_page()) ) { ? >
    < p class="description" > Some other text 2 < /p >
    < ?php } ? >

    Example 2:

    < ?php if (is_archive()) : ? >
    < p class="description" > Some text < /p >
    < ?php else : ? >
    < p class="description" > Some other text < /p >
    < ?php endif; ? >

    Both examples codes can be used in the header.php file in place of the current code for description. Let me know if it works for you.

    I have another question …

    I’d like to add a list of related entries to my posts. I’m trying to use the “Yet Another Related Posts” plugin (http://mitcho.com/blog/2007/12/29/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/), but I can’t get it to work in the posts. It seems to be defaulting to the sidebar, and I don’t know what part of the code to take out or change to make it appear in the individual posts rather than in the sidebar.

    I feel like I should send you guys some cookies or something. Thanks for being so helpful!

  1. 42. hso | January 8, 2008 #

    @ Nicole

    You are probably using the sidebar widgets to install the plugin. Instead, you need to open a file called theloop.php and add the plugin tag (must be available in the readme or instructions that came with the plugin) directly below the content area specified for single posts. Now I know theloop.php is a dreaded page to explore, so I suggest you emial us via the contact form and send us your current theloop.php script (pasted in the body of the email) and the plugin tag (if you can’t find this, I will download a copy from the plugin author page).

    Also, we will take the cookies! Thanks :-)

    Hi I installed the theme on my website and it’s all screwed up. What am I doing wrong? Here’s the message I get… Thanks.

  1. 44. hso | January 16, 2008 #

    @ Amit

    The issue is in the line below in functions.php:

    require(TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/options/app/archive.php’);

    And if you open that file, you will notice the function is calling on extended live archive (ELA) plugin, which as far as I know is not included in this install. So you need to either download the latest version of that plugin and install or delete the 13th line in your functions.php file.

    Hope that helps!

  1. 45. hso | January 16, 2008 #

    @ Amit

    It also looks like your WP install is incomplete. Try reinstalling all the files/folder overwriting all previous version files/folders. Make sure you save a copy of your DB if this is a old blog before you reinstall, if it is a brand new install, just go ahead and reinstall WP.

  1. 46. mitcho | February 24, 2008 #

    @Nicole — If you’re still having trouble with Yet Another Related Posts Plugin, I recommend you check out the latest version which, among other features introduced, makes it so that no theme-file tinkering is required to get related posts.
