Iraq Crisis: The Urgency for Change

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice (along with UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw) was in Iraq this past weekend to press-gang the interim Prime Minister Ibrahim Jaafari out of office. The reasons- ongoing sectarian violence, as if it was brought upon by the Shia winning the free election and not the continued occupation of US and other foreign forces. The blame game might serves as a gateway for troop withdrawal in the event of a full-blown civil war, after all, how many more body bags will it take before patience run out.
Quick summary of body count: As for 1st January 2006, based on a conservative estimate, over 33600 civilians, over 2300 US troops, over 1900 Iraqi police and over 200 foreign troops were lost in conflict.
