Pentagon has contracted a private direct marketing database outfit (BeNow, Inc) to amass details of American high school students in efforts to further exploitation of students by military recruiters. The schools are required to provide this data under the ‘No Chile Left Behind” program in order to avail federal funding. The methodology is simple, the data is used to determine the underperforming students, who are more likely to join the armed forces to avail free education and then sold on the idea. What is frightening about the idea is the federal governments ownership of this vast database, and how it will be used by non-military entities like law enforcement and financial institutes to manipulate the course of our lives.
