In search of the Holy Grail of truth, off I went to the very sources in question, but only to understand and characterize the basic underlying definitions of the word truth.
The key to understanding the truth about truth starts with understanding the meaning of the word- the meaning of the word as accepted by the majority of the population.
Like any university educated professional would, I turned to the web to seek the fundamental definitions:
Merriam-Webster defines truth as sincerity in action, character, and utterance the state of being the case: fact and the body of real things, events, and facts: actuality
The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language defines truth as Conformity to fact or actuality A statement proven to be or accepted as true Sincerity; integrity Fidelity to an original or standard
When I Googled the word truth, I observed a very interesting set of advertisers trying to catch my attentions, three Churches and one story about sex slaves in Cambodia. Coincidence? I don’t care.
